/!Still in draft!/ ====== Intro Lab Room Tips ====== ===== Using the Projector ===== ==== - General Projector Info ==== === - Find the Remote === It's usually on the end of the chalk board. It looks more or less like this picture of a similar model remote. === - Turn it on === Blue button in the upper right === - Lower and Lock the Screen === ==== - Projecting from a Lab Machine ==== The Linux Desktop closest to the door (cs211) is connected to the projector. It will display simultaneously to its screen and to the projector (as long as no one has unhooked it or unplugged the splitter - see troubleshooting). To use this computer with the projector, select ``computer 1`` on the remote. (You //did// find the remote, right?) ((It seems that we have the same projector as the University of Southern Indiana. The closeup pictures of the remote are from an instructional page at their site and used with permission. They were then edited on with The Gimp to add arrows and such.)) ==== - Projecting from a laptop ==== If you would like to use a laptop with the projector you can either hook it up in place of the connected desktop machine or you can connect it on the other side of the room. As the other side of the room is easier and there are spare AC outlets there as well, I'll start with that. * Find the a vga (15pin mini-D) cable connector in the front corner of the room to the right as you face the screen. * Connect the vga cable to your laptop. * Press the ``computer 2`` button on the remote * Do whatever magic you need to do on your laptop to send to an external display With a little luck the projector will auto-detect your display resolution and the image will appear. If not you may need to adjust either the projector, your laptop display or both. As this is quite laptop dependent I will fill in this section if/when we encounter problems. ==== - Turn it off ==== Red button labeled ``standby`` ===== Using the Pen Tablet with the Projector ===== To use one of our Wacom tablets with the projector in the intro-lab follow the instructions on our page: >wacom_tablet_tips
