Hotel California

The Eagles

The intro of this song is played on an electric twelve-string with a
capo on the seventh fret. The open string means an open with the
capo.

N.B. There are a whole lot of guitars in this song, 7 or 8, I think. I am putting the parts without numbering the guitars, so try it out: This is the intro that is played throughout the verses: Em B7 Dadd9 e:-0-------------0---0-----|-2-------2----------|-------0--------------| B:-0-------0-----------0-0-|-0-----------0------|-----3---3------3---0-| G:-0---0-------0---0---0-2-|-2---2-----2--------|---2----------2---2---| D:-2-2---2---2-------------|-1-1---1-------1~~~-|-0----------0---------| A:-2-----------------------|-2------------------|----------------------| E:-0-----------------------|--------------------|----------------------|

E9 C G e:-----0-0-------0-|---------------0---0-------|-----3---3-----------------| B:---------0-------|---------1-----------------|-------------0-----0-------| G:-----------0-0---|-----0-------0-----------0-|-------0---0-----0-------0-| D:---5-------------|---2---2---2-----2---0^2---|---0-----------------0-----| A:-4---------------|-3-------------------------|---------------2---2-------| E:-----------------|---------------------------|-3-----------------3-------|

Am7 B7 e:---------------0-----------|-----------------0~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-| B:---------1---------1-1~~~~-|---------0-------------------------------| G:-----0-------0---0---0~~~~-|-----2-2---2-----------------------------| D:---2---2---2---------------|---1---------1---------------------------| A:-0-------------------------|-2-------------2-------------------------| E:---------------------------|-----------------------------------------| That much repeats itself, but on the second time through, another guitar (6-string acoustic without capo) is playing:

Em B7 Dadd9 e:-------------------------|--------------------|----------------------| B:-------------------------|--------------------|----------------------| G:-------------------------|--------------------|----------------------| D:-0---------2------4------|--2-----0-----------|--------0--2----------| A:-------------------------|-----------4--------|--4-------------------| E:-------------------------|--------------------|----------------------|

E9 C G e:-------------------------|--------------------|----------------------| B:-------------------------|--------------------|----------------------| G:-------------------------|--------------------|----------------------| D:-------------------------|--------------0-----|-0--0-/-4----0--------| A:-2~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-|-2------4-----------|----------------------| E:-------------------------|--------------------|----------------------|

Am7 B7 e:-------------------------|--------------------| B:-------------------------|--------------------| G:-------------------------|--------------------| D:-2---2--/--5----2--------|-4~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-| A:-------------------------|--------------------| E:-------------------------|--------------------| And there you have the intro. The guitar with the capo keeps on going with another guitar playing the chords on top of it, but the other one stops. During the whole song, an electric guitar is strumming the strings muted. That is the chic-chic sound in the background. Now to the chorus.

During the chorus, the intro guitar stops and I think plays the chords. The chic-chic guitar also stops. The chorus chords are C G B7 Em C G Am B7, and then It goes back to the verse. The chords are played like this: C G Welcome to the Hotel California B7 Such a lovely place (such a lovely place) Em (also played here on another guitar is E:-0-2-3-| A: 0-2-|) Such a lovely face C G We're livin' it up at the hotel california Am Any time of year (any time of year) B7 You can find it here And that's pretty much it. The fills are mostly improvisational, but if you want to play them the way that they play them, I'm sure you can figure them out. After the chorus it goes back to the verse with the intro 12-string and the chic-chic guitar. It goes on that way until the end of the second chorus, where they stop, and at Mirrors on the ceiling, the intro guitar is the only one playing under the vocals. The solo is very hard to figure out, and I am in the process of figuring it out at this very moment, so if by march you don't see it on this page, reload it incase your computer has it saved as it is.
