Re:Emacspeak on Ubuntu with TTSyth

Hi Lars,

I successfully installed the SVN version of emacspeak on Ubuntu intrepid a
few months back. The only issue I ran into was getting the speech server to
compile. The problem was with the version of libtool that comes with
intrepid. Its changed how it operates/is configured and fails to link the
files correctly.

The solution was to not use libtool and replace the lines in the Makefile
for the server with straight g++ commands.

the only other issue was getting the older libstdc++ library that the
ViaVoice synth requires. I had to get that from the repository for the
previous version of Ubuntu as intrepid doesn't include that package
anymore.

Unfortunately, my Ubuntu box is not workinig anymore due to a hardware
failure (it was just an old system I was using to try out ubuntu), so now I
only have my Debian box (running Debian unstable), so I probably can't help
much more.

I also run the CVS version of emacs (Emacs 23.0.93). I was running emacs
23.0.91 on the ubuntu box

There are two types of people in IT - those who do not manage what they
understand and those who do not understand what they manage.
