Re: emacspeak using eflite question

Hey Jude,

First of all, you will need a fix that I just committed into cvs. There
was a bug in eflite where, when playing several consecutive samples, it
would play each sample at the sampling rate of the first sample. This
would cause problems with 16khz voices when text is synthesized
immediately after a tone is generated, since eflite generates tones at
8khz. (EFlite should now behave correctly when backspace is pressed in
Emacspeak when the Cepstral voices are used, except that the pitch is
still not altered for capital letters. I plan on releasing a version
0.4.0 at some point, which will hopefully fix this along with supporting
multiple voices.)

To answer your question, you will use either the cmu_us_kal16 voice
(included with flite) or the theta voices (which you can beta test if you
email info@xxxxxxxxxxx).

For kal, you first need to build the flite library by running
configure --with-vox=cmu_us_kal16
in the flite directory, then running make. Then run configure in the
eflite directory, passing it the same argument you passed to flite.

If you are using the theta voices instead of kal, then follow the
instructions that come with the voices.
