Google-Chrome yes, chrome is available on the CS system, however, there are a few hoops to jump through. For information and instructions on running google-chrome from within your CS account see:

Firefox 3.5.7 Shiretoko to use this version, enter the command firefox-3.5 as the default is still firefox-3.0.17.
Opera 10.10 Previous version was 9.64.
GATE 5.0 Previous version was the 5.0 beta. To use the new version you need to do the following 2 steps:
Delete your user configuration file, do that with the command:
rm ~/.gate.xml
Run our in-house script to correct the paths in your mygate directory, do that with the command:
gate-fix

PLT 4.2.3 DrScheme Version 4.2.3 is now the system default. The previous version, 4.2.1 is still on the system in ??/usr/local/share/plt-4.2.1??. DrScheme is part of PLT. The command ``drscheme`` will launch the current version of DrScheme. Menu launch will launch the current version. If you want the older version, you can call it by typing ``drscheme-last`` at a command line.
NLTK 0.9.8 Previous version was 0.9.7. This is a package for python 2.5. To use python 2.5, use the command ``python2.5`` in place of ``python`` as 2.4 is still the system default.
LabVIEW in progress. I am not finished with the LabVIEW install, but you may notice it under /usr/local/lv86 so I wante d to let folks know that it is in progress. I would not advise using it yet. Let me finish getting all the pieces in place first.

Gaim removed. It was upgraded and became… pidgin
Pidgin installed. Pidgin has replaced gaim. It should be more stable. If you had used gaim it will use the gaim configuration when you start it.
Wine removed. It was causing a few problems. If someone actually wants to use it I can put it back on. Let me know.
Ruby 1.9 Ruby had been on the system a few years back, now it's back.

jdk 1.6.0_07 This is the current stable release of java 1.6. While this version is not the system default it is available for use. you can set it for yourself or select it in your application. It lives in ??/usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.6.0_07/??
Allegro CL version 8.1 Version 7.x is still on the system but no is longer being patched or updated. Version 8.1 is what you now get with the command ``aclemacs`` and is what is linked to ??/usr/local/alc??
