emacspeak and irc/erc

Hi, 

Someone raised with me an interesting thought this morning over
email. I'm considering running my bitlbee chat sessions from within
emacs. What irc client should I use for emacspeak support? I'm currently
playing with erc. Also, is it possible to get emacspeak to automatically
voice incoming messages from private chats, channels etc? 

What can I do to control what emacspeak auto announces? Will this
behaviour work when I'm editing another buffer with erc/whatever client
you recommend running in the background?
