Incomplete speech in Python mode

Hello list.

Emacs-22 and Emacspeak-29.    I am running  the packaged versions on
Ubuntu-10 squeeze/sid.

When editing Python source code, at least the colon character is not
spoken on input even when punctuation mode is set to all.  Also, on
single character delete/backspace, the deleted character is not spoken
either.

I have not seen this behavior when using other Emacspeak versions in
the past.

Any suggestions appreciated.
