espeak speech server

Hi everyone,

Was playing around with a ubuntu vm (latest precise).  Think this
applies though to other versions also.

I ran up a copy of the espeak speech server compiled from latest svn.

To be honest the experience is crap.  I'm not sure if it is something to
do with the vm or the server itself.  Perhaps some of it could be
attributed to ubuntu using pulseaudio.

I'm seeing lots of utterances chopped off before speech ends.  Some
characters   are not echoed etc etc.  Also espeak appears to insist on
saying "capital" all the time for capital letters.

Is anyone using espeak as their primary speech server and if so any
comments/suggestions?

I would also note that on the same system, orca using speech-dispatcher
with espeak appears to work just fine.
