With the latest svn revison of Emacspeak and Emacs 23.4, I am not seeing these
issues. Thus the problem is likely specific to Emacs 24.

Have you tried building a slightly older version of Emacs 24 from Git? If it
doesn't exhibit the problem, you can then use git bisect to find the revision
which introduced it.

Alternatively, you could wait a few days in case the Emacs developers
commit a fix.
