multi-level undo & mode line questionns

Correct -- since it's inception, emacspeak has conveyed read-only
and modified states as follows:

Unmodified writeable buffers -- default -- no explicit auditory
cue
Modified buffers -- high-pitched beep as the modeline is spoken
Read-only buffers -- low-pitched beep as the modeline is spoken.
