You can do this with Tramp.

If you edit a remote file with Tramp over ssh, then invoke M-x shell from the
buffer that is visiting the remote file, it will start a shell on the remote
machine and put you in Emacs shell mode.

To unsubscribe from the emacspeak list or change your address on the
emacspeak list send mail to "emacspeak-request@cs.vassar.edu" with a
