Reading the mode line with Emacspeak

Hello, listers!
I know that in order to read a mode line with Emacspeak, one uses c-e
m sequence. However, there are some modes that display sequences to
indicate the status of major or minor mode. Instead of a word they
would display the shortcut that activates/disactivates the particular
mode. Can we somehow have enhanced keystrokes of the mode status line
be spoken separately from the rest of buffer? For instance, we
wouldn't have to turn all punctuation on for the whole buffer in order
to just read the mode line.
Perhaps I am missing something.
Any input would be appreciated,
Victor
