The X-enabled version of Emacs is probably installed already; it just
isn't being used.  Assuming it's installed on your Slackware 7.0
system, you can make it the default version of Emacs by typing these
commands:

cd /usr/bin
ln -sf emacs-20.4-with-x11 emacs

If that fails, install (or re-install) the emacsbin package.
