Re: erc.el?

Hello.

As some of you might know, erc.el is under active
development again on sourceforge.net.

There are many additions already since erc.el is on sf.net, but
we didnt release it because there are some quirks left to fix.

Here is a URL you can use to get the absolutely latest version directly
from sourceforge CVS:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/~checkout~/erc/erc/erc.el?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/plain

Probably useful additions since the version 2.0 of 1999 are:

* No longer dependent on edo-tools.el (faces stuff was converted to defface).
* All user customizable variables are now settable via the customize
  interface (defvar converted to defcustom).
  M-x customize-group RET erc RET to get an overview of what you can do.
* Nick completion: Use TAB to complete nicknames.
* IRC menu now available for interactive commands (not finished yet).
* Keyword Highlighting
* Interactive commands for /JOIN /Part and /TOPIC bound to C-c C-j, C-c C-p and C-c C-t.
* Modified channels indicator in global-mode-string (still buggy).
* C-c C-a is now bound to erc-bol, which places point after the
  erc-prompt.
* /LIST now enables completion for C-c C-j (erc-joing-channel).
* As well as some bugfixes and tweaks.

A conference is a gathering of important people who singly can do nothing
but together can decide that nothing can be done.
