Hi Everyone,

Just to throw in another perspective, I use notmuch for reading email.

It does a pretty good job.  The main advantage of notmuch is that it
uses xapian to index all your email locally and you can perform complex
searches in pretty much realtime.

I've got some elisp that speech enables notmuch if anyone is interested.
