Does it do it on every feed or is it just the bbc?  This is not to say
that I have a solution but I don't get the same problem here using w3 on 

GNU Emacs 22.0.95.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) of 2007-03-05 on t40

The emacspeak version is the svn version of the same day.
