W3 and Emacs 22

Hiya,
   I was interested in using the W3 web browser with the latest version of 
Emacspeak and Emacs 22.  In Ubuntu's packaging system I notice a package 
called W3E21.  This leads me to believe it is compatible with Emacs 21, but 
not 22.  Am I wrong in this assumption?
   I prefer to use packages where ever possible, if only because they seem 
a little more tightly integrated into the system.
