Hi Dan, I never needed to write my own tidy function or anything more complicated than loading w3. As near as I can tell, my copy already uses my distro's native packaging of tidy. So I'd look to see if your distro has a package and possibly use that. You might try getting rid of that hook manipulation. As far as I know it's not needed.
