Try the Bitlbee package; it may solve your problem. Essentially, it's an
interface to various messaging systems with which you interact via IRC. Emacs
has an excellent IRC client which Emacspeak supports.

Another option might be provided by Jabber transports. Again, there is a good
Jabber client available for Emacs.

I haven't had any experience of either of the above, since those of my friends
who use instant messaging systems have the good sense not to choose
proprietary protocols.
