Re: latest Emacspeak install instructions for OS X

I upgraded tot he latest OSX 10.11.1 yesterday and am running emacs with emacspeak using the e-mac-speak server included in emacspeak with no problems.

With the latest version of OSX, Apple have made some changes regarding security controls on some directories. In particular, the /usr/local directory. If you normally install emacspeak and emacs into that directory, then there are a few things you need to do. However, there is no requirement to install emacspeak into this directory. I run emacspeak from a clone of the github emacspeak repository within my home directory and avoid this issue.

Having said that, I think it is best to use homebrew to install emacs and this will require access to the /usr/local directory. If your already using homebrew, all you will need to do is change the owner permissions on /usr/local and associated subdirectories. If you have not previously use homebrew or the /usr/local space, then there are some extra steps you need to take. Details can be found at https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/blob/master/share/doc/homebrew/El_Capitan_and_Homebrew.md

Hello,
Does anyone have the latest recommended configuration steps for OS X 10.11.1?
Could I use Espeak or do I need to use MacinTalk?

Thanks,
