Problem with emacspeak Mandrake 6.0 and doubletalkPC

Can anyone help me. I'm trying to use emacspeak on my
pc with doubletalk and mandrake6.0 installed.
Do i need a soundcard or will doubletalk work by itself?
i get emacspeak working, but there isn't any sound to the board
and i've installed the driver for the doubletalk and i get a
"Doubletalk ...something something" from the board but when
i run emacspeak, i can't hear anything.

does anyone have any suggestions?
