Re: A quick reference card

This message was originally sent to "Robert J. Cymbala"
<cymbala@xxxxxxxxxxx> but I didn't notice the domain name and thus the
message bounced. For anyone using LAFN, you should be aware that LAFN
censors your email for you and their braindead censorship rules simply
ban you from receiving any email from entire networks, including two
of Canada's largest networks.

I had numerous emails back and forth with them about the proper way to
filter spam mail but they stuck to their draconian (read "lazy")
method and arrogantly refused to budge. If I were you, and assuming
(a) you are over 18 or (b) they are not your parents, I would not use
any ISP who decides who you are allowed to correspond with on your
behalf, without warning, without your permission and without your
consultation. If internet cost is an issue for you, you can simply
visit http://www.teledyn.com/products/FreeWWW and take out a free
internet account.

On to my message to Robert, who had asked about pitching the ViaVoice
emacspeak to non-profit accessibility orgs in the Los Angeles area:

I don't know the LA market, but if that one shop is not interested,
I'd contact others doing software accessibility work and see if they
would be interested. My friend was told an eyes-free computer would
cost him $2500+ (_after_ the 75% discount) but we put together the
emacspeak machine for under $800. You could also contact your local
chapter of Lions Clubs International as they are very active in
funding programs for the blind.

Before you contact anyone, you may want to find an old Pentium or PII
machine and build an emacspeak machine you can use to demonstrate.
