gnus not loading .gnus or .gnus.el under emacspeak

Hello.
When I run gnus under emacspeak 16.0 with Via Voice,
my ~/.gnus or ~/.gnus.el are not being loaded.
i searched the archive for .gnus with no luck.
m-: gnus-init-file shows ~/.gnus - that's fine.
when i run emacs under a dos terminal, it all works fine.
i'm suspecting it is an emacspeak problem.
Any Help would be Appreciated.
