converting buffer to mp3 or wav

Hello all,

I have been searching the archive to see if there is some way to create
audio files from buffer contents. I did see a few posts concerning this
and it seems that there is, or was, no way to do this in emacspeak. I
did see that someone had hacked together something in C to do this with
Via Voice, but I have seen nothing else on this. I also saw that this
could be done with festival, which I was already aware of, but this will
not allow the nice features of voice locking and the use of the superior
Via Voice synthesis.

Are there any solutions to this that are being used by those here on the
list? If the voice lock features are not available, is there some way
to use the Via Voice synth to create audio files?

If there is documentation on this, and I have just missed it, please let
me know.

Thanks,

rdc

A debugged program is one for which you have not yet found the conditions
that make it fail.
