Getting emacspeak to stop talking

I'm using version 5.0.

Yeah, I try not to do that, but when I use the "s" (show) command in
calendar, it reads out my whole diary file automatically, and when I
do command completion or filename completion on large sets of
information, I can't interrupt it. 

Anyway, in the case of calendar, I can just load the calendar file
from other means, but filename completion on large directories is
harder to avoid since you don't always know what to expect.
