Okay, the ethernet card is a linksys 10b100 I don't know how generic those
are. If they are generic, redhat knows nothing about them if man entries
are any indication. The ensonic sound card is not supported, that's a pci
5880 and sndconfig doesn't support that one in 2.2.16-22. I'm going to get
7.2 installed for security reasons not necessarily support of anymore
peripherals. redhat is too flakey with hardware peripheral support for my
money. Finally what should I be looking for in /etc.conf/modules? It
appeared from /var/log/messages that the usb device was unknown and wouldn't
run and also appeared that ethernet stuff was loading successfully since
rhns-service came up successfully but no mention of linksys 10b100 appeared
in the messages. Maybe that's the proof of failure, I don't know enough how
to read all of the messages in the ethernet card area to say definitely one
way or the other.
