I type: /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak/servers/espeak <enter> and hear espeak I type: q "this is a test." d and hear this is a test. I type: s <enter>and hear another "%" prompt once screen is examined with speakup. I'd say from these results that my speech server is probably working.
