Vm configuration?

Hi, list. I have seen lots of documentation on how to use vm, but nothing
that will answer my questions on configuration. Here is a list of my
questions.

1. I see vm will do pop access. How and where do I configure that?
2. How do I tell vm my smtp server which is mail.valkyrie.net, my user name,
and password.

Basically, how do I get vm to know how and where to send and recieve my
mail. Please, be specific. What I have read or heard from others assumes I
know something about what they are talking about which I do not.
For example they say configure the mail-mode and I know nothing about that
so I am totally lost.
Can anyone help me? Thanks.
