Minor problems using dectalk Express

Hi. I am running emacspeak with dectalk express using Red Hat 8. When 
pressing newline the system produses "command error in parameter" 
(somewhat tedious listening to in the long run). Also, when using the 
arrow keys the same result is produced whenever an empty line is 
encountered. Does anyone have an idea about how to fix this? Thanks in 
advanse.
