The following does this automatically:

(add-hook 'emacspeak-m-player-mode-hook (lambda ()
										  (emacspeak-toggle-auditory-icons nil)
										  (dtk-toggle-quiet nil)))

Also, you can use the -quiet or -really-quiet  option to mplayer to
minimize output. The -novideo option is also useful if you are running
on the console.
